How Do You Know You're Going to Do Something Until You Do It?

"An artist's only concern is to shoot for some kind of perfection, and on his own terms, not anyone else's." - JD Salinger

Thank you for your brilliant writing...

"I hope to hell that when I do die somebody has the sense to just dump me in the river or something. Anything except sticking me in a goddam cemetary. People coming and putting a bunch of flowers on your stomach on Sunday, and all that crap. Who wants flowers when you're dead? Nobody." - JD Salinger, Catcher in the Rye

  1. Oh my gosh, I was JUST sitting in another family funeral today and was thinking that maybe I don't want one of my own! It's a long story, but anyway.... Great quote. I need to read his works, he had a great impact on so many it seems, wow!

  2. I absolutely love his writing. Unfortunately, he didn't publish much. He really hated the publicity. He only wanted to write for himself. I can't believe you didn't have to read Catcher in the Rye in school! That's where I fell in love! If you liked that Catcher quote, you might just enjoy his style.

  3. I know! Well, shall we blame boys or my hs counselor who put me in AP US history instead of AP LIT? Yes, I'm still upset about that one... LOL. I guess it's probably my fault for not realizing sooner that my love of reading couldn't be more than just that. Huff... At least I'm doing something about it now, right? Eeek. So now, I need to get a copy of Catcher in the Rye! :D I think I would like it very much it sounds. I read others, but not him. :(
